ALLENTOWN, Pa. - The Cedar Crest College basketball team was beat 58-57 in a tough match against the Trinity University Tigers on Thursday evening.
In the first quarter, the Falcons outscored the Tigers 13-6. The Tigers won the second quarter 12-17, but Cedar Crest was up 25-23 going into half time. After the third quarter, the Falcons trailed the Tigers by 6 with a score of 41-17. Cedar Crest and Trinity went point-for-point in the fourth quarter. The Falcons netted another 16 points, but fell short by just one point of Trinity.
Sophomore guard Tenille Stewart (Pennsauken, NJ/Pennsauken) had a team high 14 points. Stewart also tallied four rebounds and two assists. Shemeca Thompson (Bridgeport, CT/Warren Harding), a junior forward tallied 13 points, nine rebounds, one assist and two blocks for the Falcons. Freshman forward Geminii Cabrera (Reading, Pa./Berks Catholic) netted nine points, eight rebounds, three assists, one block and two steals.
Freshman Taylor Osley (Allentown, PA/Louis E. Dieruff High School) had seven points, brought down four rebounds and tallied three assists. Venus Cabrera (Reading,Pa./Bucks Catholic), a freshman forward, put six points on the board for the Falcons and tied with Thompson for the team high of nine rebounds.
The Falcons play again at home against non-conference Hollins University. The game is set for December 20 at 3:00 PM.
