Falcons Drop Road Game at CSAC Opponent Notre Dame

BALTIMORE, Md.---The Cedar Crest College basketball team traveled to Colonial State Athletic Conference opponent Notre Dame of Maryland University in a 64-37 loss on Saturday afternoon.

The Falcons took a three point lead early with senior forward Kayleigh Keggan (Blairstown, NJ/Belvidere) hitting one from behind the arc. A battle for points would continue when freshman forward/guard Rianna Kinard (Clinton, MD/Surrattsville High) hit a jumper, but a layup the other way put the Gators up by one with just over four minutes left in the quarter. With 19 seconds left in the quarter sophomore forward Shemeca Thompson (Bridgeport, CT/Warren Harding) made two free-throws to trail by one but another quick basket had the Black and Yellow finish the quarter three behind.

The second quarter started with a layup by Keggan, but the battle for points would begin again as the Gators took a nine point lead before the Falcons battled back. Kinard would start it with a layup that was followed up by a three point play by Thompson to cut the deficit to four. The team would head to the locker room trailing 31-22.

The third and fourth quarter proved difficult for Cedar Crest that allowed the Gators to take an extended lead. Thompson and freshman guard Tenille Stewart (Pennsauken, NJ/Pennsauken) led the team with 10 points apiece. Stewart was able to grab eight rebounds, two assists and three steals while going five-of-six from the free-throw line.Thompson brought down five rebounds and one assist while Kinard scored eight points, five rebounds and two steals. Keggan also tossed in eight points, three rebounds and one assist as teammate's junior guard Taylor Osley (Allentown, PA/Louis E. Dieruff High School) and freshman forward Katherina Pierre (Middletown, NY /John S. Burke Catholic) had four rebounds each.

The next game for the Falcons is on Wednesday, February 10 at Immaculata University with tip-off slated for 7:00 p.m. in another Colonial States Athletic Conference match-up.
