Volleyball Earns Win in CSAC Play

Box Score HACKETTSTOWN, N.J.--- The Cedar Crest College volleyball team defeated Colonial States Athletic Conference foe Centenary College (N.J.), 3-1, on Saturday afternoon.

The Falcons took the first set with a score of 25-19, the team came from behind to take a seven point lead with freshman middle hitter Nicole Hill (Parsippany, NJ/Parsippany) having three kills with senior outside hitter Maggie Olock (Bethlehem, PA/Liberty High School) adding one both being set by freshman setter/outside hitter Steph Barr (Unionville, CT/Sport and Medical Sciences Academy). The Falcons would allow their opponent one more point before they won the first set.

The Cyclones won set two 25-21, but the Black and Yellow would bounce back and win the final two sets by scores of 25-20 and 25-22. The third set saw both teams fighting for points, but Cedar Crest won out the set. In the fourth set the Cyclones went on a seven point stretch, but the Falcons took back six points. Two more points would cut the lead to bring the team within two points. With the score tied 21-21 the team would earn three points with the final attack and kill coming from junior outside hitter Molly Schnaubelt (San Diego, CA/University City).

Hill had a team-high of 14 kills, one block and two digs while Schnaubelt added 10 kills, one service ace and one dig. Fields and Barr both 11 digs a piece. Fields also had a team-high of three service aces and two kills as Barr paced the team with 27 assists, two service aces and five kills. Olock had eight kills, one assist and one service ace and nine digs while freshman libero Jacey Ludlam (Blackwood, NJ/Camden Catholic) had a team high of 14 digs, four assists and one service ace.

The next match is on Wednesday, September 28 at home at 7:00 p.m. in Lees Hall in a CSAC match against Gwynedd Mercy University.
