Box Score ALLENTOWN, Pa. ---The Cedar Crest College field hockey team defeated fellow Colonial States Athletic Conference opponent Marywood University, 2-1, Wednesday afternoon at the FalconPlex in an overtime thriller.
"I'm really proud of the way the girls came together today. It truly was a team effort and win," commented Head Coach
Kellina Yarrish. "We battled back in the first half, and we were able to carry that momentum into the second half and early into overtime. It was great energy and we are looking forward to continuing that momentum into conference play."

Mercedes Melo (Lehighton, Pa./Palmerton Area) inserted a penalty corner for the Flacons, finding senior midfielder
Elizabeth Lamm (Schnecksville, Pa./Parkland) who passed across the goal to sophomore
Mackenzie Kistler who found the back of the cage to tie things, 1-1.
After a scoreless second period the game headed into overtime. After breaking up an attack the Falcons worked their way down field to earn a penalty corner.
Melo inserted again, finding
Lamm who ripped a shot that bounced off the goalkeeper pads.
Melo followed up that shot that the keeper stopped, but it came right back to the stick of
Melo who made the most of her chance and blasted it past the goalkeeper for a 2-1 win.
The next game for Cedar Crest is on Saturday, October 14 at 11:00 a.m. at the FalconPlex against Gwynedd Mercy University.
