Box Score ALLENTOWN, Pa. – The Cedar Crest College field hockey team fell 10-0 in a Colonial States Athletic Conference matchup against Gwynedd Mercy University on Saturday afternoon.
In the first half, the Falcons were able to draw a penalty corner taken by freshman midfielder
Mercedes Melo (Lehighton, Pa./Palmerton Area). With the ball in the scoring area, Cedar Crest looked to capitalize and get on the board, but came up short. In the 25
th minute, sophomore defender
Madison Bowen ( Mechanicsburg, Pa./Mechanicsburg Area Senior) took another penalty corner for the Falcons, but the visiting team made the clear. Sophomore goalkeeper
Emma Ryan (Sterling, Va./Park View) tallied three saves in the first half.
In the 45
th minute of play,
Melo took another corner for the Falcons. The ball was passed to freshman midfielder
Annalise Unger (Burlington, VT /Rice Memorial ) who looked to score, but was stopped by the Griffin goalie. A few minutes later,
Unger took her second shot of the game, but the Gwynedd goalie came up with the save.
Ryan had six saves in the second half.
The Falcons travel to CSAC-foe Keystone College on October 18. The game is set to begin at 7:00 PM.
