LANGHORNE, Pa. - The Cedar Crest College volleyball team defeated fellow Colonial States Athletic Conference school Cairn University on Saturday afternoon. The Falcons won in four sets by scores of 25-15, 23-25, 25-22 and 26-24 to improve to 12-5 on the season.

In the first set, the Falcons jumped to a 3-1 lead by capitalizing off of Highlander errors. Cedar Crest scored five points in a row, both taking advantage of Cairn errors as well as adding a kill from freshman Kailey Elrod (Annville, Pa./Palmyra Area) and a service ace from sophomore Steph Barr (Unionville, CT/Sport and Medical Sciences Academy). The Falcons then went on an eight point rally with kills from freshmen Elyse Podgurski (Randolph, N.J./Randolph) and Devyn Crowder (Aston, Pa./Sun Valley), making the score 18-8. Senior Molly Schnaubelt (San Diego, CA/University City) scored the 20th point of the set off of a kill, with sophomore Nicole Hill following with another kill for the 21st point. The 24th and 25th points were both scored by Barr off of a skill and a service ace. 

After dropping the second set, the Falcons bounced back to win the third and fourth sets. Freshman Tiffany Hoppes (Macungie, Pa./Emmaus) had a team high of 30 digs and also added three kills and four assists for the Falcons. Crowder had 13 digs, 13 assists, five kills and four services aces. Elrod tallied nine kills, 24 digs, and 2 aces on the day. Schnaubelt added nine kills and eight digs on the board. 

The Falcons travel to Gwynedd Mercy University for their next conference match on October 11. The first serve is set for 7:00 PM.
