Field Hockey Takes Down Sweet Briar

Box Score ALLENTOWN, Pa.---In their first home game of the season the Cedar Crest College field hockey team opened their weekend of play with a 10-0 win over fellow women's college Sweet Briar at the FalconPlex on Saturday afternoon.

In the first half, sophomore defender Alexx Miller (Mechanicsburg, Pa/Mechanicsburg Area) took her first shot that was saved, but she followed up her own shot to put the Falcons up 1-0. Next goal was by freshman forward Annalise Unger (Burlington, VT /Rice Memorial ) pulled the ball back to her right side for the second goal of the match. After a penalty corner the Falcons had a plethora of shots, taking the ball out to regroup was freshman forward Brice Gardner (Gardners, Pa./Biglerville ) who sent a pass in from the right side that found senior midfield Hannah Gouck (Kintnersville, PA/Palisades) knocked it in for a 3-0 lead. Gouck scored the fourth goal, she played a shot that came off the goalkeepers pads into the back of the net. The fifth goal for the Falcons was by freshman forward Ally Arabio (Egg Harbor, N.J./Egg Harbor ), Miller set the play up sending in a hard pass that Arabio placed her stick behind to direct into the goal. Arabio worked her way down field quickly to find the back of the net again to take a 6-0 lead heading into halftime.

Second half, the team controlled the pace of the game just as they did in the first half, keeping possession and stringing together passes. The first goal of the half was by senior midfielder Elizabeth Lamm (Schnecksville, Pa./Parkland) who finished her shot at 38:56 for a 7-0 lead. Sophomore midfielder Makenzie Kistler (Walnutport, Pa./Northampton) received a ball that crossed through the circle, pulled away to bring it right back to pass the defender to take her open shot for the eight goal of the game. Gardner knocked in the next two goals for the team to improve to 3-1 on the season.

The next game for the field hockey team is tomorrow at 2:00 p.m. against Moravian College.
