Box Score ROSEMONT, Pa - The Cedar Crest College volleyball team beat Colonial States Athletic Conference foe Rosemont College in three sets on Saturday afternoon. After an evenly matched first set, the Falcons beat the Ravens 26-24. Cedar Crest took the second set 25-6 and the third 25-8.
In the first set, the Ravens were first on the board, but the Falcons answered back with a kill from freshman Devyn Crowder (Aston, Pa./Sun Valley). Cedar Crest earned their next nine points capitalizing off of Rosemont errors, bringing the score to 10-9. After going point-for-point with the Ravens, sophomore Steph Barr (Unionville, CT/Sport and Medical Sciences Academy) scored the 24th point off of a kill. The 25th and 26th points for the Falcons were scored by taking advantage of Raven errors.
The Falcons jumped to a 3-0 lead in the second set. Starting a seven point rally for the Falcons was sophomore Nicole Hill (Parsippany, NJ/Parsippany) off of a kill. Freshman Kailey Elrod (Annville, Pa./Palmyra Area) tallied two kills, freshman Madison McGowan (Birdsboro, Pa./Daniel Boone) had two service aces. Hill ended the rally with another kill, widening the Falcons' lead to 14-3. Cedar Crest scored the next five points off of Raven errors. Freshman Tiffany Hoppes (Macungie, Pa./Emmaus) had back-to-back service aces. Sophomore Jannelle Mohney (Elkton, Pa./Rising Sun) scored the 24th point for the Falcons off of a kill.
After winning the first two sets, the Falcons continued their momentum into the third, scoring the first 10 points of the set. Senior Molly Schnaubelt (San Diego, CA/University City) tallied the tenth point with a kill. Cedar Crest earned the 15th and 16th points from kills by Hill and Barr. The Falcons ended the third set by scoring the final three points off of kills by Schnaubelt and Hill and taking advantage of a Raven error.
The Falcons play at home against fellow CSAC member Marywood University on September 27. The first serve is set to begin at 7:00 PM.
