GWYNEDD VALLEY, Pa. --- The Cedar Crest College women's basketball squad fell in CSAC action to Gwynedd Mercy, 67-37, in their final meeting of the 2017-18 season.
Cedar Crest falls to 3-14 on the year with a 2-8 mark in the Colonial States Athletic Conference.
The top-scoring Falcon was sophomore guard
Sylera Weller (Lancaster, Pa. /J.P. McCaskey), who finished the game with 11 points, seven rebounds, five steals and two assists. Sophomore guard
Geminii Cabrera (Reading, Pa. /Berks Catholic) rounds out the double-figure scorers with 11 points and grabbed four boards for the Black and Yellow.
Freshman guard
Natasha Barber (Dallas, TX/Ranchview) and senior center
Meghan Gregory (Buckhorn, NM/Cliff ) contributed eight points each for Cedar Crest.
Barber finished with a game-high eight rebounds and two assists while
Gregory contributed five rebounds, two assists, and a block in the contest.
Sophomore forward
Venus Cabrera (Reading, Pa. /Berks Catholic) recorded six boards and two assists as
Khnaue Robinson (Newark, N.J./Great Oaks Legacy Charter) added four rebounds and two steals.
The Falcons were outscored in the first 10 minutes as they trailed the Griffins 18-7. In the second quarter, Cedar Crest allowed Gwynedd Mercy to score 19 points in the quarter to their six points as the Falcons' squad went into the intermission trailing 37-13.
Coming out of the locker room, Cedar Crest managed to put up eight points in the 3rd quarter with the Griffins scoring 13 to increase the lead to 50-21 after 30 minutes of play. The Falcons played their best in the 4th quarter, netting 16 points to the 17 points scored by their opponent before ultimately falling to Gwynedd Mercy, 67-37.
Cedar Crest's next matchup will be Saturday, January 27 when the squad travels to Rosemont for their second and final meeting of the regular season. Tip-off slated for 1 pm.
