Falcons Fall In CSAC Play versus Keystone

LA PLUME, Pa. --- The Cedar Crest College women's basketball team dropped a CSAC contest to Keystone College Wednesday afternoon by a score of 55-37 to fall to 2-8 on the year.

Leading the Falcons in scoring was sophomore guard Sylera Weller (Lancaster, Pa./J.P . McCaskey) (Lancaster, Pa. /J.P. McCaskey), who finished the game with 14 points, four rebounds and a steal. Weller also finished a perfect 2-2 from the foul line and made four three-pointers in the game. Sophomore guard Geminii Cabrera (Reading, Pa./Berks Catholic) (Reading, Pa. /Berks Catholic) also finished in double figures with 11 points while adding seven rebounds and three assists for the Black and Yellow.


Senior center Meghan Gregory (Buckhorn, NM/Cliff ) (Buckhorn, NM/Cliff ) contributed seven points, six rebounds and recording a blocked shot while freshman guard Natasha Barber (Dallas, TX/Ranchview) (Dallas, TX/Ranchview) contributed five points, five rebounds and three assists. Khnaue Robinson (Newark, N.J./Great Oaks Legacy Charter) (Newark, N.J./Great Oaks Legacy Charter) added six rebounds, two steals and a blocked shot in the game. Sophomore forward Venus Cabrera (Reading,Pa./Berks Catholic) (Reading, Pa./Berks Catholic) finished play with three rebounds and an assist.

The Falcons struggled out of the gates, scoring their first points of the contest from the foul line by Gregory, cutting the lead to 5-2. Their lone basket came off a G. Cabrera jumper with 1:36 remaining in the first quarter. The first 10-minute period would end with the Falcons trailing 14-4. The second quarter was strides better, as Cedar Crest scored 12 points to Keystone's six points. G. Cabrera scored six points in the period as the Black and Yellow went into halftime trailing by four, with the score 20-16.
Coming out of the locker room, Keystone outscored the Falcons by 10, with the Giants scoring 23 to Cedar Crest 13 points. Through three quarters, Keystone owned a 43-29 lead heading into the fourth quarter. The Falcons scored eight points in the final 10 minutes of the game before ultimately falling to Keystone, 55-37.

Cedar Crest will head to the Notre Dame of Maryland on Saturday, January 6, with tip-off slated for 1:00 pm. in Baltimore.
