Soccer shuts out Keystone for 9th victory of the Fall

ALLENTOWN, Pa. --- The Cedar Crest College Soccer squad posted a 3-0 shutout over Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) opponent, Keystone College on Wednesday evening at the FalconPlex.

The Falcons are now 9-3 overall this Fall, with a CSAC record of 4-1. The Black and Yellow would score the first goal of the game off of the foot of sophomore Daria Warner (Harrisburg, Pa./Bishop McDevitt), coming off the bench to score off of a rebound from the goalkeeper's gloves in the 40th minute. That's not all for Warner, in the second half, she was fed a pass from freshman Tess Spitler (Owrigsburg, Pa./Blue Mountain) that was blasted into the back of the net to put the Falcons up 2-0 in the 58th minute. Both of the goals put Warner at 12 goals this season.

The last goal of the game was netted by freshman Brittney Dunleavy (Auburn, Pa./Blue Mountain) for her second goal of the year. Dunleavy was slotted a pass from freshman Kaitlyn Kozdron (Vernon, N.J./Vernon Township) from the left side of the six-yard box where Dunleavy got a foot on it and put it past the keeper for the third and final goal of the match in the 80th minute.

Senior Morgan Maddock (Brick, N.J./Brick Memorial High School) improved her record to 9-3 this season with making just one save and posting her fifth shutout of the season.

Cedar Crest took a total of 15 shots tonight, with 10 of them going on goal where Keystone was held to five shots and just the one on the keeper. The Black and Yellow earned seven corner kicks to the Giants' one.

The Falcons will return to the pitch on Friday, October 12 when they host Clarks Summit University in a CSAC contest at the FalconPlex. Kickoff is scheduled for 5:00 PM.
