ALLENTOWN, Pa. --- The Cedar Crest Soccer team earned its 6th straight victory and 11th win of the season in 4-0 shutout of Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) opponent Wilson College Tuesday night.
"We played great soccer tonight," stated Head Coach Sarah Wolcott. "We shut things down defensively and were patient with the ball and kept possession well."
The Falcons have posted the most wins in a season since 2004, when they won 10 games that season. Now 11-3 on the year and 6-1 in conference play after defeating the Phoenix, the Black and Yellow got on the board early.
Freshman Tess Spitler (Owrigsburg, Pa./Blue Mountain) score in the 11th minute after a shot rang off the post and Spitler bodied the ball past the keeper to take the 1-0 lead. The next goal came in the 55th minute after a Penalty Kick was given to Cedar Crest, which saw sophomore Adrianna Tennis (Pine Grove, Pa./Pine Grove ) score on the penalty shot to double the lead. Not even a minute later, freshman Kaitlyn Kozdron (Vernon, N.J./Vernon Township) put a shot on target that ricocheted off the post and had Spitler blast her second goal of the game in the 56th minute. The final goal of the contest was scored by sophomore Rebecca Fox (Olean, N.Y./Olean) for her second goal of the season. Junior Kimberly Rosano (Belvidere, NJ/Belvidere) sent a searching ball into the 6-yard box that Fox was able to get a touch on put it into the back of the net and push the lead to 4-0.
Senior goalkeeper Morgan Maddock (Brick, N.J./Brick Memorial High School) recorded two saves on two shots that Wilson took in the match. Maddock posted three straight shutouts and has a record of 11-3 this season.
"I couldn't be happier about the momentum we're continuing to build and I'm excited for our potential moving forward. It was an all-around team effort and I'm so proud of everyone!" exclaimed Wolcott.
The Falcons regular season will conclude on Saturday, October 20 when they travel to Rosemont College with first touch at 12:00 PM.
