Volleyball sweeps last day of Penn. St-Brandywine quad-match

MEDIA, Pa. --- The Cedar Crest College Volleyball team ended Day 2 of the quad-match being hosted by Penn. St-Brandywine, with a 3-2 win over Pratt Institute and then a 3-0 win over the host, Penn. St-Brandywine Sunday afternoon.
 
Cedar Crest, now 13-4 overall, earned the Game 1 win that went all five sets. The Falcons went set for set with the Canoneers: 25-21, 19-25, 25-18, 26-28 and taking the fifth set 15-9. Cedar Crest had 52 kills, 38 assists, 54 digs, 11 service aces and seven blocks. Leading the team with 17 kills was junior Nicole Hill (Parsippany, NJ/Parsippany), who also had a team-high four blocks. Sophomore Kailey Elrod (Annville, Pa./Palmyra Area) added 15 kills. Freshmen Madison Flatt (Reinholds, Pa./Cocauco) contributed 19 assists with Talia Watson (Harleysville, Pa./Souderton) adding 15 helpers. Three Falcons were in double-figures in digs, sophomores Tiffany Hoppes (Macungie, Pa./Emmaus) and Elrod each with 11 and freshman Britney Rivera (Flanders, N.J./Mount Olive) adding 10.
 
Cedar Crest claimed Game 2 in straight sets, 3-0: 25-17, 25-21 and 25-18. The Black and Yellow earned 37 kills, 11 service aces, 33 assists and 73 digs. Hill led the team once again in kills with 12 and led in services aces with five and blocks with two. Watson recorded 19 assists, which was also a team-high. The same three Falcons were in double-figures in digs, Hoppes made 18, Elrod with 16 and Rivera added 14.
 
The Volleyball squad will return to action on Thursday, October 11 when the Falcons travel to Rosemont College for a Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) contest beginning at 7:00 PM.
