Geminii Cabrera nets season-high 24 points, Falcons fall to Penn State Berks

ALLENTOWN, Pa. --- The Cedar Crest College Basketball team dropped their fourth consecutive game in the 61-74 loss to Penn State Berks on Monday night at Lees Gymnasium.
 
The Falcons are now 1-5 on the year, kept it close in the first half, scoring 11 points to the Nittany Lions 12. In the second quarter the Black and Yellow were outscored by four points, 12-16, to go into halftime trailing 23-28. The third quarter was when Penn State Berks pushed the lead ahead even further, Nittany Lions put up 30 third quarter points to the Falcons 12, going to fourth quarter at 35-58. Cedar Crest put up 26 points in the final 10-minutes and held Penn State Berks to 16 points, as the final buzzer went off, Cedar Crest was handed a 61-74 loss.
 
Leading Cedar Crest in multiple categories was junior Geminii Cabrera (Reading, Pa./Berks Catholic). Cabrera netted 24 points with four three-pointers, four assists, two steals and a rebound. Freshman Amiyah Peters (Plainville, Conn./Plainville) scored a personal-best nine points and added three boards, two assists and a takeaway while freshman Joana Cainglet (Collegeville, Pa./Pope John Paul II) scored eight points off two three-point baskets, three assists, a rebound and one helper.
 
Junior Venus Cabrera (Reading,Pa./Berks Catholic) posted six points, eight rebounds, four assists, two blocked shots and a steal while sophomore Jada Garrett (Dallas, TX/Ranchview) contributed a board and a steal. Also, getting in the scorer's column tonight was graduate student, Meghan Gregory (Buckhorn, NM/Cliff ), had four two rebounds, two blocks and an assist with freshman Tania Bryant (Willingboro, N.J./Doane Academy) sinking a three-pointer and grabbed three boards. Junior Mackenzie Borger (Kresgeville, Pa./Pleasant Valley) made a basket, blocking a shot and recording two rebounds.
 
Up next, Cedar Crest returns to action on Wednesday, November 28 when the Falcons open the Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) slate. The Falcons will host Bryn Athyn College at Lees Gymnasium with tip-off set for 7:00 PM.
