BALTIMORE, Md. --- The Cedar Crest College Basketball team dropped their first Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) game of the season, falling to Notre Dame of Maryland, 56-62 on Saturday afternoon at Gator Court.
The Falcons are now 2-6 on the year, with a CSAC record of 1-1. Keeping it a tie in the first and second quarter, the Falcons went into half time with the score of 31-31. In the third quarter the Black and Yellow were outscored by four points, 11-15, to go into the forth quarter trailing 42-46. In the fourth quarter starting at 42-46, Cedar Crest put up 14 points but it was not enough to hold up Notre Dame (Md.) who added 16 points, as the final buzzer went off, Cedar Crest was handed a 56-62 loss.
Leading Cedar Crest in multiple categories was junior Geminii Cabrera (Reading, Pa./Berks Catholic). Cabrera netted 15 points with four three-pointers, three assists, three steals and eight rebounds. Freshman Amiyah Peters (Plainville, Conn./Plainville) scored a nine points, two assists, and two steals while freshman Joana Cainglet (Collegeville, Pa./Pope John Paul II) scored nine points off three three-point baskets, two assists, and three rebounds.
Junior Venus Cabrera (Reading,Pa./Berks Catholic) posted five points, five rebounds, two assists, one blocked shot and two steals while sophomore Jada Garrett (Dallas, TX/Ranchview) contributed six points and nine rebounds. Also, getting in the scorer's column tonight was graduate student, Meghan Gregory (Buckhorn, NM/Cliff ), who had ten rebounds, three blocks. Tania Bryant (Willingboro, N.J./Doane Academy) contributed an assist. Junior Mackenzie Borger (Kresgeville, Pa./Pleasant Valley) added six points and an assist.
Up next, Cedar Crest returns to action on Wednesday, December 5th when the Falcons go to Rosemont College to play the Ravens at Alumnae Hall with tip-off set for 7:00 PM.
