BRUNSWICK, Maine --- The Cedar Crest College Basketball team fell to Maine Maritime, 37-87 at Day 1 of the Bowdoin Invitational Saturday evening.
The Falcons are now 2-9 this season, with a record of 1-2 in the Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC). Cedar Crest kept the game close after one quarter, trailing just 7-12. Scoring 14 points in the second quarter, would be the most points the Black and Yellow would score in a quarter, but allowing the Mariners to score 24 points put the deficit at 21-36 to end the half. The third quarter was no different for Cedar Crest, allowing Maine Maritime to score 24 points to the Falcons seven points. Cedar Crest would drop nine points in the final quarter as the Mariners put up 27 points to put the final score at 37-87.

Mackenzie Borger (Kresgeville, Pa./Pleasant Valley), coming off the bench, scoring nine points while the next closest Falcon was junior
Geminii Cabrera (Reading, Pa./Berks Catholic) who netted eight points, six rebounds and three steals. Graduate Student,
Meghan Gregory (Buckhorn, NM/Cliff ), tossed in six points, seven rebounds, two blocks and a steal.
Freshman
Joana Cainglet (Collegeville, Pa./Pope John Paul II)Â scored five points with adding three rebounds, an assist and one steal with sophomore
Jada Garrett (Dallas, TX/Ranchview) and freshman
Tania Bryant (Willingboro, N.J./Doane Academy) each scoring three points.
Garrett added two boards, a steal and an assist while
Bryant grabbed a rebound. Junior
Venus Cabrera (Reading,Pa./Berks Catholic) added a basket, six rebounds and one assist with
Natasha Barber (Dallas, TX/Ranchview) sinking one free throw, a rebound, block and assist.
Cedar Crest will return to action tomorrow, Sunday, December 30 to play in the Bowdoin Invitational Consolation Games. The Falcons will take on Wheaton College (Mass.) at 2:00 PM. Link to the live stream can be found
