Three Falcons Finish in Double-Figures but Come Up Short Versus Cairn

Box Score LANGHORNE, Pa. --- The Cedar Crest College women's basketball team came up short as they lost to Cairn University, 59-54, to fall to 3-17 on the year and 2-11 in conference play after Saturday's game.

Sophomore guard Sylera Weller (Lancaster, Pa. /J.P. McCaskey) paced the Falcons, as she was one of three players to end in double-figures. Weller scored 17 points in the game, dishing out a game-high five assists, three rebounds and a steal. Following close behind was sophomore forward Geminii Cabrera (Reading, Pa. /Berks Catholic) who netted 14 points, seven rebounds, four assists and one steal while sophomore forward Venus Cabrera (Reading, Pa. /Berks Catholic) also finishing in double figures with 11 points, grabbing nine boards and two assists.
Senior center Meghan Gregory (Buckhorn, NM / Cliff) and freshman guard Natasha Barber (Dallas, TX/Ranchview) both finished the contest with six points each. Gregory contributed six rebounds, two steals and an assist while Barber added eight rebounds, two assists and a steal. Freshman guard Khnaue Robinson (Newark, N.J./Great Oaks Legacy Charter) and senior forward Shemeca Thompson (Bridgeport, CT/ Warren Harding) both added three rebounds each.

The Falcons played strong in the opening 10 minutes, as they scored 10 points as the Highlanders edged them out with 12 points. Cedar Crest was held to just 8 points to Cairn's 17 points in the second quarter. Going into halftime, Cedar Crest trailed the Highlanders 29-18.

Following the intermission, the Black and Yellow netted 17 points, with Cairn scoring 13 points to put the score at 42-35. In the final quarter, Cedar Crest took the lead at 52-50 with 2:47 to play. The Falcons would score 19 points, with Cairn scoring 17 as the Falcons ultimately fell to the Highlanders 59-54.

Cedar Crest will begin a four-game home stand to end the season, with the Falcons hosting Keystone College on Wednesday, February 7, with tip-off set for 7 PM at Lees Hall.
