Field Hockey wins 4-0 over Wells, gives Head Coach Auchenbach first career win

ALLENTOWN, Pa. --- The Cedar Crest Field Hockey team won its first game of the season, 4-0 over Wells College, giving Head Coach Amber Auchenbach her first win as a collegiate head coach.

Both teams played hard given the heat," stated Auchenbach "but I am proud our team and the way they continue to improve and strive to succeed." 

The Falcons scored three goals in the first half, the first one coming off the stick of freshman Serena Shuler (Stroudsburg, Pa./Stroudsburg) in the 6th minute. Sophomore Mercedes Melo (Lehighton, Pa./Palmerton Area) tapped in the next goal of the game off a crossing pass through the circle from sophomore Annalise Unger (Burlington, Ver./Rice Memorial ). The Black and Yellow scored the third goal of the half in the 23rd minute, with sophomore Alexandria Arabio scored off a pass coming from Shuler. Cedar Crest would add one more goal in the second half, junior Alexx Miller (Mechanicsburg, Pa/Mechanicsburg Area) put in the shot past the goalkeeper off a pass from junior Brenna Desborough (Amherst, N.H./Souhegan ).
 
The Falcons would outshoot the Express 24-3, with 16 Cedar Crest shots on cage to the one from Wells. The Black and Yellow doubled up the Express on corners, 10-5.
 
Junior Goalkeeper Cassandra Reijgers (Hollis, N.H./Hollis Brookline) stopped the shot she faced during the game, earning the victory in the decision, putting her record at 1-2
 
"Our first win of the season feels great and I know they are hungry for more," added Auchenbach. "The success of the team is just beginning, I know they have more to prove!"

The Falcons have the week off before returning to action again on Saturday, September 22, when they host the Gators from the Notre Dame of Maryland to open Conference play. Game scheduled for 2:00 PM.
