Soccer earns 5-1 victory over Wells College on the FalconPlex

ALLENTOWN, Pa. --- The Cedar Crest Soccer squad earned their fourth victory of the season with a 5-1 victory over the Express from Wells College on Sunday afternoon. The Black and Yellow improve to 4-2.

"I was so happy with our play today, we were just syncing," commented Head Coach Sarah Wolcott. We played composed and did a great job moving the ball and keeping possession. It was sweltering, and our players didn't let it affect them. They worked through everything, and the result showed that.

The Falcons had four goal-scorers in the contest, with two goals coming from junior Adrianna Tennis (Pine Grove, Pa./Pine Grove ), scored the first goal of the game in the 5th minute off a pass from sophomore Daria Warner (Harrisburg, Pa./Bishop McDevitt) and then scored her second goal in the 67th minute. Freshman Michelle Yawger (Washington, N.J./Warren Hills) scored on a goal off the bench in the 27th minute from Tennis.

Warner netted a goal in the 51st minute off a through ball from junior Kelsey Kehm (Trappe, Pa./Perkiomen Valley ) and the last goal was scored by sophomore Rebecca Fox (Olean, N.Y./Olean) with an assist from junior Nyla Ngegba (Newcastle, DE/St. Georges Technical ).

"Kim Rosano was instrumental in connecting play through the middle, and Avery Huston (Levittown, Pa./Bucks County Techinical) had a standout game in the back, as well, her motor just kept going!" Wolcott added.

The Falcons blasted 41 shots in the game with 15 of them going on goal while the Express took three total with two going on the keeper. The Black and Yellow earned 10 corners in the game to the Wells one.

Senior Goalkeeper Morgan Maddock (Brick, N.J./Brick Memorial High School) played all 90 minutes, saving one shot and let one past off a penalty shot. Maddock earned the win in the decision, now 4-2 on the year.

"I'm really happy with our effort and energy and I'm so excited to see where it propels us moving forward," concluded Wolcott.

The Falcons return to action again on Tuesday, September 18, when they host the St. Joseph-Brooklyn. First whistle is scheduled for 7:00 PM.
