Field Hockey takes down Bryn Athyn 4-1 in CSAC contest

BRYN ATHYN, Pa. --- The Cedar Crest College field hockey team finished its Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) contest with a 4-1 win over Bryn Athyn College at Nelson Field Monday evening.

The game was started on Wednesday, September 26 where the game got to halftime before lightning struck and impending weather suspended the game to today.

Sophomore Annalise Unger (Burlington, Ver./Rice Memorial ) opened the scoring for the Black and Yellow with a sharp-angle shot at the right post just over six minutes into the match. The Lions would find an equalizer in the 25th minute, but not until Cedar Crest's freshman Samantha Johnson (Hellertown, Pa./Saucon Valley) would score just 48 seconds later to regain the lead. Sophomore Alexandra Arabio (Egg Harbor Township, N.J./Egg Harbor ) extended the gap to 3-1 over a minute after Johnson's go-ahead goal by tipping-in a freshman Serena Shuler (Stroudsburg, Pa./Stroudsburg) pass at the right post.

In the second half, Cedar Crest would score the only goal in the 46th minute off of a pass into the circle that Unger would get past the keeper for her second goal of the game. The Falcons would take a total of 21 shots with 16 of them going on cage, where the Lions took five shots with four on the goalie.

Junior goalkeeper Cassandra Reijgers (Hollis, N.H./Hollis Brookline) did not make a save in first half of action, allowing the one Bryn Athyn goal. Three shots on goal came in the second half, which junior Emma Ryan (Sterling, Va./Park View) made all two saves and had junior Alexx Miller (Mechanicsburg, Pa/Mechanicsburg Area) making a defensive save.

The Falcons will have their next game on Wednesday, October 10 when they host Keystone College in a CSAC contest beginning at 5:00 PM on the FalconPlex.
