ALLENTOWN, Pa. --- The Cedar Crest Basketball team went back-and-forth with Centenary University throughout the game, but would ultimately fall 47-51 on Wednesday night.

"I love our energy and effort today, we played Falcon basketball for the first time all year," commented Head Coach
Kristin Karat. "It's unfortunate we couldn't pull this one out because we deserved it."

Cedar Crest is now 4-12 overall and slips to 3-4 in Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) action after the loss. A great first half had the Falcons and Cyclones battling for the lead. Cedar Crest started off well and took a 18-15 lead going into the second. Edging Centenary in the second quarter yet again after some big shot had the Falcons clinging to a five-point lead heading into the break, 31-26.

Coming out of the locker room for the third is when the Black and Yellow had a cold streak, scoring five point to the Cyclones 12, putting the score at 36-39. A teetering fourth quarter did not go the Falcon way, scoring 11 to Centenary's 13 points to defeat Cedar Crest, 47-51.

Stepping up for the Black and Yellow and recording a double-double tonight was junior
Venus Cabrera (Reading,Pa./Berks Catholic), who scored 11 points and grabbed 14 rebounds.
Cabrera also added a steal and assist. The leading scorer in tonight's matchup was junior
Mackenzie Borger (Kresgeville, Pa./Pleasant Valley), netting 13 points, six boards and five assists. Graduate student
Meghan Gregory (Buckhorn, NM/Cliff ) also ended the night in double-digits in rebounds with 14 and blocked a shot.

Sophomore
Khnaue Robinson (Newark, N.J./Great Oaks Legacy Charter) and freshman
Joana Cainglet (Collegeville, Pa./Pope John Paul II) each tossed in seven points, with
Robinson adding two rebounds and a steal while
Cainglet recorded a team-high seven assists, two boards and a steal. Also, making the scorers column was sophomore
Natasha Barber (Dallas, TX/Ranchview), who made a basket and a free throw for her three points.
Barber would also bring down three boards and two assists.

"I challenged my team before the game to show me who they wanted to be, and boy did they ever. I was so proud to Coach them tonight and even more excited to get back to work tomorrow morning and ready for Saturday" concluded

The Falcons will return to action on Saturday, January 19 when they travel to Langhorne, Pa to face off with the Cairn University Highlanders. Tip-off is scheduled for 1:00 pm.
