ALLENTOWN, Pa. – The Cedar Crest College Soccer team remains undefeated in Colonial States Athletic Conference action after taking down Notre Dame of Maryland University on Saturday afternoon. The Falcons extend their winning-streak to seven-straight games and improve to 10-4 overall and 6-0 in conference play.
Cedar Crest honored their three graduating seniors prior to the start of the game:
Kelsey Kehm (Trappe, Pa./Perkiomen Valley),
Nyla Ngegba (Newcastle, DE/St. Georges Technical), and
Kimberly Rosano (Belvidere, NJ/Belvidere).
The Falcons and Gators played a scoreless first half, but that doesn't mean that Cedar Crest didn't have opportunities. The Black and Yellow took 11 first-half shots, with four shots that went on the keeper. Notre Dame would take only one shot in the first 45-minute half, but it went on goal and needed a save. Both squads would head into the half at 0-0.
"We had some struggles in the first half, but we did a good job adjusting and raising our level in the second half, commented Head Coach
Sarah Wolcott.
The second half was similar for the Falcons, attempting 12 shots with four more shots going on goal, but this time, the Black and Yellow would find the back of the net. Just six minutes into the second half, junior defender,
Sarah Nawrocki (Minersville, Pa./Minersville) would take the ball up the field and score the first goal of the game and record her first career goal as a Falcon in the 52nd minute. 10 minutes later, junior
Daria Warner (Harrisburg, Pa./Bishop McDevitt) would extend the Cedar Crest lead to 2-0 after scoring her conference-leading 19th goal of the year.
Warner's goal was assisted by freshman
Madison VanKirk (Northumberland, Pa./Shikellamy) in the 62nd minute, and would hold for the duration of the half, giving the Falcons the 2-0 victory.

Sarah Nawrocki (Minersville, Pa./Minersville) played so well for us and was a huge for us in the back," continued
Coach Wolcott. "Maddie VanKirk came in and raised the level so tremendously and changed the momentum for us."
Freshman goalkeeper,
Lauren Makely (Lake Grove/Sachem North), recorded her seventh shutout of the season this afternoon.
Makely made three saves in the game, one in the first half and two in the second, to, improving to 10-4 in her rookie season.
Wolcott concluded, "I'm happy with how we adapted and we gutted this one out. I'm so happy we got this win for our seniors."
Cedar Crest will be back in action on Tuesday, October 22 when they host Centenary University in a rematch of the 2018 CSAC Championship game. The Falcons and Cyclones are the only undefeated teams in the conference and will go head-to-head on Tuesday night. The game is set for 7:00 PM at the FalconPlex.
