CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. --- The Cedar Crest College Soccer squad shutout the Wilson College Phoenix on the road in Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) action on Saturday afternoon. The Falcons improve to 6-4 overall and 2-0 in conference play after the 3-0 win.
"I'm so happy with today's result... it was another collective effort," commented Head Coach Sarah Wolcott.Â
Cedar Crest dominated the game play in the contest, taking 16 shots, with 10 going on goal, compared to the Phoenix one shot that did require a save. The Black and Yellow earned two corners in the first half and four in the second for their six to Wilson's one, which came in the first half.
Â
All of the goals came from junior
Daria Warner (Harrisburg, Pa./Bishop McDevitt), scoring three times for a hat trick.Â
Warner's first goal came in the 27th minute putting a shot past the Phoenix goalkeeper off of a rebound to give the Falcons a 1-0 lead. That score would be held to halftime, even though the Falcons fired nine shots, scoring once, and have four other shots saved by Wilson's goalie.
Â
Cedar Crest would extend the lead to 2-0 after a pass from freshman
Madison VanKirk (Northumberland, Pa./Shikellamy) would find
Warner and she would score her second of the game in the 51st minute. The Black and Yellow would see
Warner score her hat trick and final goal of the game in the 82 minute to finish off scoring in the match. With
Warner netting three goals in the win, she reaches double-digits for her season total, scoring 10 times this season, for 22 points.
"We moved the ball well, and just worked really hard overall. We were a little unlucky early, and couldn't quite find the target... I think we hit the post 3 times, but Daria stepped up big time and buried 3 in the back of the net. Her play up top was tenacious," continued
Wolcott.
Â
In goal for Cedar Crest was freshman
Lauren Makely (Lake Grove/Sachem North), who also improves to 6-4 this season.
Makely recorded her fourth clean-slate with the shutout and made one save on the only shot she faced in the second half.
"Every single player contributed to this win, and I couldn't be more proud of them," concluded
Coach Wolcott.Â

The Falcons return to action on Wednesday, October 9 when they host Rosemont College for their first home CSAC game of the 2019 campaign. Kickoff is set for 7:00 PM at the FalconPlex.
