Falcons rout Rosemont to improve to 3-0 in conference play

ALLENTOWN, Pa. --- The Cedar Crest College Soccer squad blanked the Rosemont College Ravens in Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) action on Wednesday evening. The Falcons improve to 7-4 overall and 3-0 in conference play after the 5-0 victory.

" Tonight was a hard fought win," stated Head Coach Sarah Wolcott. "We battled together for 90 minutes and every single person on the team contributed to that."

Cedar Crest dominated the game play in the contest, taking 17 shots, with 11 going on goal, compared to the Ravens seven shots, with four that require saves. The Black and Yellow earned three corners in each half for six total, to Rosemont's two, which came in the second half.

Juniors Daria Warner (Harrisburg, Pa./Bishop McDevitt) and Adrianna Tennis (Pine Grove, Pa./Pine Grove) each scored twice in contest, as senior Kelsey Kehm (Trappe, Pa./Perkiomen Valley) beat the keeper as well. Warner would net the first goal in the 14th minute to give the Black and Yellow a 1-0 lead. Both of Tennis' goals came in the first half, the first in the 25th minute and her final goal of the match, and team-high 13th goal of the season, came in the 39th minute. Cedar Crest would head into the half with a 3-0 lead and would not look back. 15 minutes into the second half, Warner would receive a pass from sophomore Brittney Dunleavy (Auburn, Pa./Blue Mountain) that would lead to her second goal of the match and put her at 12 goals in total this season. Kehm would get a shot past the Ravens goalkeeper in the 83rd minute off of a corner kick pass from fellow senior Kimberly Rosano (Belvidere, NJ/Belvidere) to extend the lead to 5-0. The score would hold true for the remaining time and give the Falcons the 5-0 victory.

Coach Wolcott continued, "Daria and Adrianna were just a force offensively and Kaitlyn Kozdron (Vernon, N.J./Vernon Township) added so much to our attack. She was involved in so many chances and created so many opportunities for us."

In goal for Cedar Crest was freshman Lauren Makely (Lake Grove/Sachem North), who also improves to 7-4 this season. Makely recorded her fifth clean-slate with the shutout and made four saves on the seven shots she faced in the second half.

"Our back line communicated well and held things down for us. Again, it was total team win tonight, and I couldn't be happier," concluded Coach Wolcott.

The Falcons return to action on Saturday, October 12 when they travel to Keystone College for another CSAC contest. Kickoff is set for 1:00 PM at the Keystone Turf Field.
