Falcons fall to Immaculata in non-conference action

ALLENTOWN, Pa. --- The Cedar Crest College Basketball squad suffered their second straight loss, now 0-2 to begin the season, after falling to Immaculata University, 50-70 inside of Lees Gymnasium on Saturday afternoon.
 
The Falcons took a 2-1 lead in the first quarter after converting a layup, but the Mighty Macs would not surrender the lead for the rest of the match, leading 9-18 at the end of the first. The Black and Yellow scored 15 second-quarter points, but Immaculata would outscore the Falcons by three in the quarter, trailing by 12 heading into halftime. Cedar Crest was held to nine points in the third, but scored 17 in the fourth and final quarter, ultimately dropping the non-conference match to the Mighty Macs, 50-70.
 
Two Falcons finished the game with double-figures in points, led by senior Geminii Cabrera (Reading, Pa./Berks Catholic), scoring 18 points, including eight made free throws, while adding team-highs with six rebounds and five steals. Junior Mackenzie Borger (Kresgeville, Pa./Pleasant Valley) was the other wearing the Black and Yellow that ended in double-digits, finishing with 15 points, going 11-15 at the foul line, and a rebound. Just missing out on reaching double-figures was freshman Megan Peifer (Weatherly, Pa./Weatherly), who hit two three-pointers that contributed to her nine-point performance. Piefer also brought down two rebounds in the contest. Four other Falcons recorded two points apiece in the loss.
 
The Falcons hit the road for two-consecutive games, starting on Tuesday, November 19, when travel to Penn State - Berks in non-conference action. Tip-off is slated for a 6:00 PM against the Nittany Lions.
