Basketball suffers conference loss to Bryn Athyn

ALLENTOWN, Pa. --- The Cedar Crest College Basketball team (0-7, 0-2 CSAC) dropped a Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) game to Bryn Athyn College (2-5, 1-1 CSAC) in Lees Gymnasium on Wednesday evening, falling 54-85.
 
The Black and Yellow were in it early, keeping the Lions with reach, but Bryn Athyn went on a run that had the Falcons trailing 10-23 after the first 10 minutes. Bryn Athyn would extend their lead heading into halftime, with Cedar Crest behind 24-48. The Falcons would outscore the Lions by one in the third quarter, 12-11, but would still find themselves behind 36-59 after 30 minutes. Cedar Crest would tally a total of 18 fourth-quarter points, but Bryn Athyn would post 26 points of their own, handing the Falcons a 54-85 loss.
 
Three Falcons would end the night in double-figures in the scorer's column, led by junior Mackenzie Borger (Kresgeville, Pa./Pleasant Valley), who scored 13 points, four rebounds, two assists and two blocked shots. Freshman Megan Peifer (Weatherly, Pa./Weatherly) followed close behind with 12 points, while adding six rebounds, three assists and two steals as graduate student Meghan Gregory (Buckhorn, NM/Cliff) put up 10 points, co-leading with seven rebounds and two blocks.
 
Senior Geminii Cabrera (Reading, Pa./Berks Catholic) was one-point shy for double-digits in points, finishing with nine, with six boards, two assists, a block and a steal. Both, sophomore Amiyah Peters (Plainville, Conn./Plainville) and freshman Kelly Reid (Bridgewater, N.J./Bridgewater-Raritan), ended the night with four points each. Peters contributed seven rebounds, a game-high five assists and two steals as Reid finished with three assists and two rebounds. Senior Venus Cabrera (Reading,Pa./Berks Catholic) tossed in two points while adding five boards and two blocked shots as sophomore Tiesha Fortune-Saunders (West Haven, Conn./West Haven) contributed two assists, a rebound and a steal.
 
The Falcons will return to Lees Gymnasium for their second-straight game of a four-game home stand heading into the new year, hosting Cairn University on Saturday, December 7. The game is scheduled to start at 1:00 PM.
