BRYN MAWR, Pa. --- The Cedar Crest Field Hockey team opened their 2019 season with a 4-0 loss to Bryn Mawr College on Friday afternoon.
The Falcons and Owls were at a scoreless tie for the first 27 minutes, when Bryn Mawr broke the draw with under three minutes remaining in the first half. The Owls would get three more shots passed the goalkeeper, one in the third quarter and two in the fourth and final quarter to put the final score at 4-0.
Getting the start in cage was senior
Cassandra Reijgers (Hollis, N.H./Hollis Brookline), who played all 60 minutes, went up against 19 shots, 11 of them going on goal and recorded six saves. Senior
Alexx Miller (Mechanicsburg, Pa/Mechanicsburg Area) was tabbed with a defensive save as well in the contest. The Falcons managed to get three shots off, two from senior
Makenzie Kistler (Walnutport, Pa./Northampton) and the other coming from freshman
Kiley Marone (Mohrsville, PA/Tulpehocken High School). Both Cedar Crest and Bryn Mawr took eight penalty corners each, with the Owls having six come in the second quarter and two in the third while the Falcons had three in the first half and five in the second.
Cedar Crest returns to action on Sunday, September 1 when they make the short trip to Center Valley to take on DeSales University for a 12:00 PM start time.
