Falcons Blank Medaille behind Warner's Hat Trick for Labor Day win

ALLENTOWN, Pa. --- The Cedar Crest Soccer program improves to (2-0) after shutting out Medaille College 5-0 on Labor Day at the FalconPlex Monday afternoon.

The Falcons got on the board in the fourth minute off the foot of junior Adrianna Tennis (Pine Grove, Pa./Pine Grove) to give her the fourth goal of the season and put Cedar Crest up 1-0. After that, junior Daria Warner (Harrisburg, Pa./Bishop McDevitt) would score the next three goals to complete the Hat Trick and put the Falcons up 4-0 after 73 minutes of action. Not even a minute after Warner's third goal, sophomore Brittney Dunleavy (Auburn, Pa./Blue Mountain) blasted a shot outside the 18-yard box to score the fifth and final goal of the game.

"It's early in the season, so we're still working out some kinks," stated Head Coach Sarah Wolcott, "but overall I was happy with our effort and performance today. Avery Huston (Levittown, Pa./Bucks County Technical) and Brittney Dunleavy (Auburn, Pa./Blue Mountain) played really well for us in the back and Madison VanKirk (Northumberland, Pa./Shikellamy) did a great job controlling the middle of the field."

Cedar Crest led every statistical category, outshooting the Mavericks 17-5 with 13 shots going on goal. The Falcons also earned seven corner kicks in the match, compared to Medaille's three.

Starting in her second collegiate game was freshman Lauren Makely (Lake Grove/Sachem North), she made three saves and recorded her first-career shutout for the Falcons.

We definitely built from our last match, and we're moving in a positive direction.

The Falcons return to action of Friday, September 6 when they host Bryn Mawr College at the FalconPlex. First-whistle is scheduled for 4:00 PM.
