ALLENTOWN, Pa.--- The Cedar Crest College Soccer squad defeated the Pratt Institute Cannoneers 7-0 to close out Home Coming weekend at the FalconPlex on Sunday afternoon.
Â
The Falcons are now 4-4 on the season after holding Pratt scoreless for 90 minutes. It only took the Black and Yellow 23-seconds to get on the board, when a pass from sophomore
Brittney Dunleavy (Auburn, Pa./Blue Mountain) found the foot of
Daria Warner (Harrisburg, Pa./Bishop McDevitt) to take a 1-0 lead. Cedar Crest would score their second goal of the game in the 10th minute by the same combination of
Dunleavy to
Warner for a goal, giving
Warner seven goals this season.
Dunleavy would score her first goal of the game after a crossing pass from freshman
Madison VanKirk (Northumberland, Pa./Shikellamy) was sent into the box from the right-side, grazed the head of
Warner, and
Dunleavy got her right-foot behind the ball to put the Falcons up 3-0 in the 17th minute of the game.
In the 22nd minute, senior
Kelsey Kehm (Trappe, Pa./Perkiomen Valley), who just entered the contest, came in and struck a shot from just outside the left-side corner of the 18-yard box to extend the lead to 4-0, which held until halftime.
Â
Dunleavy would net her second goal of the game and fifth of the season in the just 38 seconds into the second half. Freshman
Jordan Cicio (Wantage, N.J./High Point) would tally her first collegiate goals in the victory, with her first goal coming in the 71st minute with a shot from the left-side of the 18-yard box into the top right corner of the net.
Cicio's second goal of the match came just nine-minutes later, in the 80th minute, to put the Falcons up 7-0, which would end the scoring on the afternoon, giving Cedar Crest the 7-0 win.
Â
Freshman goalkeeper
Lauren Makely (Lake Grove/Sachem North) got the start in today's match, facing just one shot on goal in the first half. She was then relieved by freshman
Emily Rodriguez (Allentown, Pa./Salisbury), who played the entire second half, in her collegiate debut.
Makely would receive the victory in the decision, putting her record at 4-4.
Â
The Black and Yellow outshot the Cannoneers 24-1 with 12 shots going on goal. Cedar Crest also earned five Corner Kicks and did not allow Pratt to earn one at all.
Â
The Falcons open Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) play with their next contest, as they start on a two-game road trip. Cedar Crest will travel to Bryn Athyn College on Thursday, October 3 for a 7:00 PM game under the lights at Nelson Field.
