ALLENTOWN, Pa. --- The Cedar Crest Field Hockey team scored three goals in the Home Opener, but lost to Marywood University 9-3 on the FalconPlex Wednesday evening.
The Falcons, now (0-3) on the season, fell behind early, allowing five first-half goals. Four minutes into the second half, junior
Brice Gardner (Gardners, Pa./Biglerville ) got Cedar Crest on the board with an assist credited to senior
Makenzie Kistler (Walnutport, Pa./Northampton), putting the score at 5-1. The Pacers would add two more before the Falcons and them would go back-and-forth, starting with sophomore
Serena Shuler (Stroudsburg, Pa./Stroudsburg) scoring the first goal of the season, followed by the final Falcons goal of the game going to
Kistler for her first of the year.
Starting in cage was senior
Cassandra Reijgers (Hollis, N.H./Hollis Brookline), who played the first half and allowed five goals on the eight shots she faced, making three saves. Senior
Emma Ryan (Sterling, Va./Park View) entered the game in the second half, saving two shots of the six she faced.
Reijgers ended up with the loss in the decision, putting her overall record at 0-3.
Cedar Crest was outshot 8-19 and had five shots on cage compared to the 14 that the Pacers produced. Both the Falcons and Marywood earned eight penalty corners each in the game.
