Falcons handed road loss to Manhattanville

PURCHASE, N.Y. --- The Cedar Crest Field Hockey team suffered a 3-1 loss to Manhattanville College in non-conference play on Saturday afternoon.
 
The Falcons, which fall to (0-4) on the season, were in a scoreless battle for the first 26 minutes today, but the Valiants would score the first goal of the game with three minutes until halftime. Coming out of the half, senior Alexx Miller (Mechanicsburg, Pa/Mechanicsburg Area) would tie the match with a shot blasted off of a pass from senior Makenzie Kistler (Walnutport, Pa./Northampton) on a penalty corner in the 41st minute, her first goal of the season. Four minutes later, Manhattanville would score a goal with just 12 seconds remaining in the third quarter to take the lead for good. The Valiants would add another goal to the board in the 55th minute to seal the victory and defeat the Falcons, 3-1.
 
The Falcons were outshot 13-14 in the match, but nine of those 13 shots went on cage compared to Manhattanville's seven shots went on goal. The Black and Yellow were able to earn more penalty corners in the contest, taking nine to the Valiants six.
 
Senior Emma Ryan (Sterling, Va./Park View) got the start in cage this afternoon, playing all 60 minutes in her first start this season, made four saves on the seven shots she faced. Ryan would receive the loss in the decision putting her record at 0-1.
 
The Falcons return home on Wednesday, September 11 when they welcome Wilkes University to the FalconPlex in non-conference action. First-whistle is slated for 5:00 PM.
