ALLENTOWN, Pa. – The Cedar Crest College Basketball squad (3-12, 2-6 CSAC) suffered a Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) loss to the College of Saint Elizabeth (10-4, 7-1 CSAC) 43-72, at home on Wednesday evening.
The Falcons got off to slow start, but would start to find a rhythm in the second quarter, as they trailed the Eagles 14-34 at the half. Saint Elizabeth would put together a big third quarter to extend their lead, but the Black and Yellow would outscore the Eagles 16-11 in the fourth quarter, putting the final score at 43-72.
Freshman
Ashley Wilson (Norwalk, Conn./Norwalk) was Cedar Crest's leading scorer with 15 points, but also had herself a great game on the defensive end.
Wilson recorded five blocked shots and three steals, to go along with six rebounds and three assists. Senior
Geminii Cabrera (Reading, Pa./Berks Catholic) finished the game with eight points, six boards, a team-high five assists and two blocks. Two Falcons, senior
Venus Cabrera (Reading,Pa./Berks Catholic) and freshman
Megan Peifer (Weatherly, Pa./Weatherly), each contributed six points apiece.
Cabrera was the third Falcon to finish with six rebounds in the game, while adding a steal, block and an assist, while
Peifer grabbed three offensive rebounds, swiped three steals and dished out an assist.
Junior
Mackenzie Borger (Kresgeville, Pa./Pleasant Valley) ended the night with five points off of a 3-points and a layup. She also earned a steal and an assist. Freshman
Kelly Reid (Bridgewater, N.J./Bridgewater-Raritan) and graduate student
Meghan Gregory (Buckhorn, NM/Cliff) wrapped up the Falcon scorers', with
Reid getting a basket in the paint for two points, and brought down four boards as
Gregory got her one point from the foul line, to go with her assist and rebound.
Cedar Crest will be back in action on Friday, January 17 when they travel to Clarks Summit University (10-4, 6-2 CSAC) for an 8:00 PM start in Huckaby Gymnasium.
