HACKETTSTOWN, N.J. --- The Cedar Crest College Basketball squad (2-9, 1-3 CSAC) suffered a Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) loss to Centenary University (6-3, 2-1 CSAC) by just seven-points, 48-55, in Reeves Gymnasium on Saturday afternoon.
The Falcons started off the game scoreless for the first five minutes before scoring their first basket and found themselves behind 5-14 after the first quarter. The Black and Yellow would start to find their groove, but was still trailing at the half, 18-28. The Falcons would outscore the Cyclones in both quarters in the second half, including cutting the deficit to just two points with just over five minutes to play in the third quarter, 33-35, but was still behind Centenary, 33-42 at the end of the third. The Cyclones would extend their lead to as much as 11 points, but Cedar Crest would continue to fight back, bringing the game within three-points twice, but was not able to capitalize, falling to Centenary, 48-55.
Three Falcons reached double-digits in points, led for the second consecutive game by freshman
Ashley Wilson (Norwalk, Conn./Norwalk), who dropped 19 points, sinking five 3-pointers, while adding five rebounds, three assists, two blocks and two steals. Senior
Geminii Cabrera (Reading, Pa./Berks Catholic) and junior
Mackenzie Borger (Kresgeville, Pa./Pleasant Valley) each finished with 10 points apiece.
Cabrera finished the game with three rebounds, three assists, and a steal as
Borger contributed two boards and two assists.
Sophomore
Amiyah Peters (Plainville, Conn./Plainville) recorded three points on a 3-point basket to go with a steal, rebound and an assist, while freshmen
Megan Peifer (Weatherly, Pa./Weatherly) and
Kelly Reid (Bridgewater, N.J./Bridgewater-Raritan), and graduate student
Meghan Gregory (Buckhorn, NM/Cliff) recorded two points each.
Peifer added three rebounds, three steals and two assists while
Reid grabbed four rebounds and a blocked shot.
Gregory ended the night co-leading the Falcons with five rebounds.
Up next, the Falcons will return home to host Keystone College on Tuesday, January 7 for a CSAC contest. The game is scheduled for 7:00 PM inside of Lees Hall.
