Cabrera and Wilson Record Double-Doubles as Falcons Clipped By the Phoenix

ALLENTOWN, Pa. – The Cedar Crest College Basketball squad (5-17, 4-11 CSAC) suffered a two-point loss, 60-62, at the hands of Wilson College (4-17, 2-13 CSAC) in Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) action on Wednesday evening.

The Falcons jumped out to an early lead, leading by as much as 10 points in the opening quarter, but the Phoenix battled back as the Black and Yellow led by two points at the end of the first quarter, 13-11. A low scoring second quarter set Cedar Crest back at the half, trailing 22-24 after 20 minutes of play.

Both squads continued to battle back-and-forth in the third quarter, with the Falcons taking a brief lead at the halfway point in the third, but Wilson would extend their lead to five points at the end of the third quarter, putting Cedar Crest behind 36-41. The Black and Yellow would outscore the Phoenix the final quarter, 24-21, but the Falcons late rally would fall just short as Wilson defeated Cedar Crest 60-62.

A pair of Falcons recorded double-doubles in tonight's contest, led by freshman Ashley Wilson (Norwalk, Conn./Norwalk) who scored 35 points and 10 rebounds, to go with a blocked shot a steal. Wilson hit six three-pointers and went 11-13 (85%) from the free throw line. As Wilson tallied her second-career double-double, senior Geminii Cabrera (Reading, Pa./Berks Catholic) logged her fourth double-double of the season, netting 13 points and 10 rebounds, while adding three assists for the Black and Yellow.

Junior Mackenzie Borger (Kresgeville, Pa./Pleasant Valley) was next in the scorers' column, as she scored seven points, grabbed three boards, added an assist and a block. Graduate-student Meghan Gregory (Buckhorn, NM/Cliff) and freshman Kelly Reid (Bridgewater, N.J./Bridgewater-Raritan) each tallied two points each.
