LA PLUME, Pa. – The Cedar Crest College Basketball team (5-15, 4-9 CSAC) was defeated by Keystone College (15-5. 13-0 CSAC) in Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) play by a score of 46-104 at Ace Spalding Arena on Wednesday evening.
The Falcons started the contest with a four-point lead, but the conference-leading Giants would shortly take the lead and would not surrender it for the remainder of the game. The Black and Yellow went 18-22 (82%) from the free throw line in the contest.
Freshman
Ashley Wilson (Norwalk, Conn./Norwalk) put together an 18 point performance, going 10-10 (100%) at the foul line, to go with five rebounds, three assists and a steal as Cedar Crest's lone member in double-figures. Senior
Geminii Cabrera (Reading, Pa./Berks Catholic) and junior
Mackenzie Borger (Kresgeville, Pa./Pleasant Valley) each contributed eight points in the game.
G. Cabrera finished a perfect 6-6 (100%) at the charity stripe, with a team-high eight rebounds and three assists while
Borger brought down three boards and blocked a shot.
Senior
Venus Cabrera (Reading,Pa./Berks Catholic) and freshman
Kelly Reid (Bridgewater, N.J./Bridgewater-Raritan) both scored four points apiece, with
V. Cabrera adding a steal and a rebound as
Reid recorded one rebound. Both graduate student
Meghan Gregory (Buckhorn, NM/Cliff) and sophomore
Amiyah Peters (Plainville, Conn./Plainville) made a basket in the contest.
Gregory added three boards and two assists while
Peters swiped two steals and grabbed a rebound.
The Falcons finally return home after a three-game road trip for three-straight home games, starting on Saturday, February 8 when they host the Cyclones from Centenary University (11-8, 7-6 CSAC). Tip-off is scheduled for 1:00 PM in Lees Gymnasium.
