Soccer Cruises to Win Over Valley Forge on Senior Day

ALLENTOWN, Pa. – The Cedar Crest College soccer team cruised to a 10-0 victory over the University of Valley Forge in Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) play on Saturday afternoon at the FalconPlex on Senior Day. Prior to the match, the Falcons honored its two seniors Brittney Dunleavy (Auburn, Pa./Blue Mountain) and Kaitlyn Kozdron (Vernon, N.J./Vernon Township) in a special pregame ceremony.

Kozdron put Cedar Crest on the scoreboard in the opening minute for her first of three goals on the afternoon. Graduate student Erika D'Angelo (Jackson, N.J./Jackson Memorial) followed with a strike in the sixth minute. Dunleavy, Kozdron, and freshman Rebecca Verdi (Crownsville, Md./Old Mill) each scored to close the first half as the Falcons led 5-0 at the intermission.

Cedar Crest netted five more goals in the second half. Freshman Kayla Reiter (Fogelsville, Pa./Northwestern Lehigh) scored in the 47th minute off an assist from junior Morgan Love (Kutztown, Pa./Kutztown). Love got in the scoring column in the 51st minute, with the assist going to graduate student Nyla Ngegba (Newcastle, Del. /St. Georges Technical). Junior Taylor Wolf (Townsend, Del./Middletown) continued the offensive onslaught in the 56th minute with a goal coming off a helper from Kozdron.

Kozdron capped her hat trick in the 70th minute while Ngegba closed the scoring in the 75th minute. The assist on the final goal went to freshman MacKayla Reed (Duncansville, Pa./Hollidaysburg Area Senior).

Junior Lauren Makely (Lake Grove, N.Y./Sachem North) picked up shutout in goal, not facing a shot in the contest. Keegan Thompson made 25 saves for the Patriots.

The Falcons outshot Valley Forge, 50-0, and held a 16-0 advantage in corner kicks.

Cedar Crest (11-1-1 overall, 6-1-0 CSAC) stays home to host Clarks Summit University on Wednesday, October 27 at 6:00 p.m. Valley Forge (0-12-0 overall, 0-8-0 CSAC) will round out the regular season at home against Bryn Athyn College on Tuesday, October 26 at 3:30 p.m.
