ALLENTOWN, Pa. – The Cedar Crest College softball team defeated Notre Dame of Maryland University (1-11, 1-11 CSAC) in a pair of five-inning games on Monday evening at Blaschak Field. The Falcons (12-2, 12-2 CSAC) put up an 18-1 victory in Game 1, followed by an 8-0 win in Game 2 over the Gators.

GAME 1: Notre Dame would strike first, taking a 1-0 lead in the top half of the first inning, but that would be the only run the Gators would score. Cedar Crest countered with a four-run first inning to take a 4-1 lead. The Black and Yellow would score six in the second, five in the third, and three in the fourth inning, totaling 18 runs, their largest amount of runs in a game this season, earning the 18-1 win in five innings.

Eight different Falcons combined for 16 hits, with senior Patricia Dalton (Northampton, Pa./Northampton Area) and junior Rachel Savini (Wilmington, DE/Delaware Military Academy) leading the team with three hits each. Dalton went 3-for-3 with a solo homer, her third of the season, two doubles, scored three runs and drove in two RBIs. Savini went 3-for-4 with a pair of doubles and three RBIs. Four Falcons recorded two hits apiece, with junior Delaney VanBuskirk (Bridgeville, Del./Woodbridge) going 2-for-4 with a three-run Home Run and led the team with five RBIs. Senior Riley Tremblay (Allentown, Pa./Parkland) went 2-for-3 with a double, three runs driven in, and scoring two of her own, while sophomore Renee Snyder (Allentown, Pa./Parkland) went 2-for-2 with three runs scored. Junior Skyler Bilous (Schnecksville, Pa./Parkland) turned in a 2-for-2 performance when she entered the game at shortstop. Graduate Students, Dallas Horning (Bethlehem, PA/Liberty) and Nicole Santaniello (Kissimmee, Fl./Osceola) each had a base hit, with Horning driving in a run and Santaniello scored twice and had an RBI.

Graduate student, Breanna Young (Easton, PA/Wilson Area) earned the start in Game 1, throwing 2.0 innings. She allowed one run on three hits and struck out three Gators in the nine batters she faced. Freshman Corinne Mundy (Philadelphia, Pa./The Arts Academy at Benjamin Rush) entered the game in the third inning and threw for 3.0 innings. She walked two, struck out one, and did not allow a hit in 11 batters. Young would earn the win, improving her record to (5-1).

GAME 2: This game was scoreless for the three and a half innings before the Falcons scored the first runs of the ballgame in the bottom of the fourth to take a 3-0 lead over Notre Dame. The Black and Yellow would tack on five runs in their half of the fifth inning, claiming the 8-0 victory for the sweep of the Gators.

All of Cedar Crest's hits came from a different member, with Nicole Santaniello (Kissimmee, Fl./Osceola) and Dallas Horning (Bethlehem, PA/Liberty) each reaching base with doubles. Santaniello drove in two runs and scored one run of her own, as Horning also plated two runners. Patricia Dalton (Northampton, Pa./Northampton Area) had an RBI and was walked once. Renee Snyder (Allentown, Pa./Parkland), Delaney VanBuskirk (Bridgeville, Del./Woodbridge), Riley Tremblay (Allentown, Pa./Parkland), and freshman Reilly Mateljan (Friedens, Pa./Somerset Area) were the other Falcons to reach with a base hit.

Junior Skyler Bilous (Schnecksville, Pa./Parkland) got the start in game 2, throwing all 5.0 innings of the game. She gave up five hits while striking out three of the 22 batters she faced. Bilous recorded six flyouts and six groundouts in the win, putting her at (6-1) on the year.

Cedar Crest is scheduled to close out the 2021 season with a pair of CSAC games against Keystone College on Saturday, May 1. First-pitch is set for 12:00 PM and immediately following the doubleheader, the Falcons will be honoring their graduating seniors.
