SEGUIN, Texas. – The Cedar Crest College softball team's season concluded on the final day of the 2021 NCAA Division III Softball Regional Tournament, hosted by Texas Lutheran University.
The Falcons (21-5) suffered a 12-0 no-hit loss to No. 15 Emory & Henry College (29-8) in five innings to close out the 2021 campaign.
Cedar Crest, designated as the home team, and Emory & Henry got through the first half of the inning before the going into a half-hour rain delay. When action resumed, the Falcons left the bases loaded and we headed into the second inning tied 0-0. Emory & Henry broke into the scorer's column and posted eight runs in the top of the second. The Wasps would add on four more in the top of the third inning, then both squads were scoreless in the fourth and fifth inning, putting the final score at 12-0.
Getting the start in the circle was junior Skyler Bilous (Schnecksville, Pa./Parkland), who threw for 1.0+ innings and gave up three earned runs in the eight batters she faced. Replacing her in the second inning was graduate student Breanna Young (Easton, PA/Wilson Area), who threw for 1.1 innings, and allowed eight runs on seven hits in the 13 batters she went up against. Freshman Corinne Mundy (Philadelphia, Pa./The Arts Academy at Benjamin Rush) went 2.2 innings gave up two hits and one run in the 14 batters she faced. Bilous received the loss in the decision, putting her record at (8-4).
At the conclusion of the regional championship game, graduate student second baseman, Nicole Santaniello (Kissimmee, Fl./Osceola), and sophomore center fielder, Renee Snyder (Allentown, Pa./Parkland), were both selected to the Seguin Regional All-Tournament Team.
The Cedar Crest College softball program closes out their historic season, going 21-5 overall, earning the program's first Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) Championship and NCAA Tournament wins in school history.
