CLARKS SUMMIT, Pa. – The Cedar Crest College basketball team was defeated by Clarks Summit University by a final score of 75-31 in a Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) contest on Tuesday night at Huckaby Gymnasium.

Junior Megan Peifer (Weatherly, Pa./Weatherly) paced the Falcons (2-8 overall, 1-6 CSAC) with 11 points, seven rebounds, and two steals. Classmate Ashley Wilson (Norwalk, Conn./Norwalk) contributed a double-double of 10 points and a season-high 13 boards to go along with six steals, two assists, and a block.

Junior Alison Aten (Streetsboro, Ohio) led the Lady Defenders (12-2 overall, 8-0 CSAC) with 20 points, eight rebounds, and one assist. Senior Elizabeth Singleton (Schenectady, N.Y.) was also strong, registering 14 points, 14 rebounds, five assists, and two steals. Graduate student Torri Laman (Selinsgrove, Pa.) also pitched in a double-double of 10 points and 12 boards. Freshman Serene Calderon (Corfu, N.Y.) closed out the home players in double figures with 11 points off the bench.

Clarks Summit came out of the gate with some early buckets, highlighted by a layup from Laman to kickstart the game. The Lady Defenders would take an early 5-0 lead just before the mid-point of the quarter on a three from Aten. However, the Falcons would score one more field goal and convert a pair of free throws in the frame while Clarks Summit built a 13-4 advantage after the first 10 minutes.

The Lady Defenders continued their strong play and shot 61 percent in the second quarter and outscored Cedar Crest 25-5 to carry a 38-9 lead into the half.
The remainder of the game would be controlled by Clarks Summit, putting up 19 points to the Falcons' 13 in the third quarter to build a 57-22 lead. The Lady Defenders would outscore Cedar Crest 18-9 in the fourth quarter and take the 75-31 win.

Clarks Summit outscored the Falcons 44-12 in the paint, forced Cedar Crest into 15 turnovers, and gave up 16 second chance points in the contest.

The Falcons return to the floor on Thursday, January 20 for a road game at Cairn University. Start time is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. Clarks Summit will stay at home and welcome in Rosemont College on Thursday for an 8:00 p.m. tip.
