LANCASTER, Pa. – The Cedar Crest College field hockey team shut out Lancaster Bible College, 5-0, in a Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) game on Saturday afternoon at Donald H. Funk Field.
The Falcons netted a pair of goals in the opening 15 minutes. Senior
Amber Cieri (Slatington, Pa./Northern Lehigh) found the back of the cage in the second minute when she deposited a shot off a rebound from a missed shot. Junior
Mira Carver (Lebanon, N.J./North Hunterdon) followed with a marker in the seventh minute to make the game 2-0 at the end of the first quarter.
Cieri recorded the lone goal in the second quarter, putting a shot home in the 20
th minute.
After a scoreless third stanza, Cedar Crest got a pair of goals from senior
Kiley Marone (Mohrsville, Pa. /Tulpehocken). The first goal was unassisted in the 46
th minute while the second was assisted by Carver in the 56
th minute.
First-year
Kendall Heiney (Slatington, Pa./Northern Lehigh) made one save in goal in the victory. First-year Amanda Hoover (Bowmansville, Pa.) tallied eight stops for the Chargers in the loss.
The Falcons held a commanding 23-1 margin in shots and had 12 corners to Lancaster Bible's four.
Cedar Crest (6-7 overall, 3-2 CSAC) welcomes in Drew University for a non-conference contest on Thursday, October 20 at 7:00 p.m. Lancaster Bible (3-9 overall, 1-1 CSAC) will stay at home for a conference tilt against Notre Dame of Maryland University on Tuesday, October 18 at 4:30 p.m.
