Davis Nets Hat Trick in Soccer's 9-0 Triumph at Valley Forge

PHOENIXVILLE, Pa. – The Cedar Crest College soccer team cruised to a 9-0 triumph at the University of Valley Forge on Wednesday afternoon at Patriot Field in a Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) match.

First-year Lauren Davis (Oley, Pa./Oley Valley) paced the Falcons with a hat trick. Senior Morgan Love (Kutztown, Pa./Kutztown) and sophomore Abril Riley (Levittown, Pa./Harry S. Truman) pitched in two goals apiece while senior Taylor Wolf (Townsend, Del./Middletown) and graduate student Ashley Whittaker (Huntersville, N.C. /Hopewell ) each finished with a goal and an assist.

Davis put the Falcons with her first goal of the afternoon in the 18th minute and then added another in the 21st minute. Riley made the match 3-0 with an unassisted marker in the 24th minute. Whittaker set up Love in the 26th minute for the 4-0 advantage while Wolf put one home in the 32nd minute to send Cedar Crest into the half with the 5-0 lead.

Davis capped off her hat trick with a strike in the 49th minute to open the second-half scoring. Whittaker followed with a marker in the 62nd minute with the assist going to Wolf.

Riley netted her second of the contest in the 76th minute while Love scored her second of the day, off the assist from junior Olivia Kelly (Medford, N.J./Shawnee) to round out the scoring in the 9-0 final.

Cedar Crest had 63 total shots and registered 18 corner kicks in the win.

First-year goalkeeper Bella Bozen (Lockport, Ill./Lockport Township) secured the victory for the Falcons and did not face a shot. First-year Maria Hernandez (Stratford, Conn.) concluded the match with 21 saves in the setback for the Patriots.

Cedar Crest (10-3-2 overall, 7-0-1 CSAC) concludes the regular season on Saturday, October 29 against Saint Elizabeth University at 1:00 p.m. It will also serve as Senior Day for the Falcons. Valley Forge (0-13-0 overall, 0-9-0 CSAC) wraps up its season on Saturday at Trinity (D.C.). The match is set for 2:00 p.m.
