Volleyball Advances to CSAC Championship with Sweep of Keystone

ALLENTOWN, Pa. – The top-seeded Cedar Crest College volleyball team advanced to the Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) championship match with a 3-0 triumph over No. 4 seed Keystone College on Thursday night at Lees Gymnasium.

The Falcons won by set scores of 25-10, 25-16, and 25-9.

The teams traded the first 12 points of the set before either could create separation. With the score tied 6-6, Cedar Crest scored six straight points, capped up by a service ace from junior Rebekka Sanchez Castro (Columbia, Md./Atholton) to double up the Giants, 12-6, and finished on a 13-4 run to take the opening set, 25-10.

The beginning of the second set was tight as the teams split the first 22 points (11-11). A Cedar Crest service error began a 3-0 run to put Keystone up 13-11. The Falcons put together another long scoring run, this time a 14-3 run to come away with the 25-16 win.

Cedar Crest raced out to a huge lead in the third set, scoring 14 of the first 17 points. The margin never dipped below 10 as the Falcons captured the frame by the 25-9 score.
