ASTON, Pa. – The Cedar Crest College tennis team was edged 5-4 at Neumann University in a non-conference match on Saturday afternoon.
The Knights found themselves up 2-1 after doubles play. The Falcons' first doubles pair of senior
Maya Narasimhan (Scotch Plains, N.J./Scotch Plains Fanwood) and sophomore
Lily Spagnola (Barnegat, N.J./Barnegat) fell to sophomore Hannah Asaka (Upper Darby, Pa.) and sophomore Kylie Seeger (Glenolden, Pa.), 8-5. Cedar Crest's second doubles team of junior
Sasha Singh (Breinigsville, Pa./Parkland) and sophomore
Sam Henson (Waterbury, Conn./W.F. Keynor Technical) got by 8-7 in a tiebreaker. The third doubles tandem of Brittany Schultz and Corinne O'Connor fell to freshman Nannitha Suthong (Upper Darby, Pa.) and junior Nicole Turner (Sherburne, N.Y.), 8-4.
Narasimhan and Singh captured their respective singles matches at No. 1 and 2 by forfeit. Spagnola fell to Seeger at No. 3 (6-0, 6-4). Henson topped Suthong (6-0, 6-3) at No. 4 for Cedar Crest's fourth point while junior Sarah Oziminski (Southampton, Pa.) and Turner came away with wins at No. 5 and No. 6 singles for the Knights, respectively.
Cedar Crest (0-4 overall) will open conference play at home on Saturday, April 2 when the Falcons host Rosemont College at 11:00 a.m.
