ANNVILLE, Pa. – The Cedar Crest College field hockey team was topped by Lebanon Valley College, 4-1, on Thursday night at Arnold Field.
The Falcons struck first with a goal in the ninth minute of the game from the stick of sophomore
Lauren Jackson (Ambler, Pa./Wissahickon), but the Dutchmen would tie the contest in the 11
th minute with a marker from sophomore Lexi Ward (Boiling Springs, Pa.). Lebanon Valley tacked on another before the end of the opening quarter on a tally from junior Alana Antonello (Wilkes-Barre, Pa.) to make it a 2-1 game heading into the second frame.
The Dutchmen added one in the second when sophomore Hannah Shirey (Lebanon, Pa.) found the back of the cage in the 29
th minute. The assist went to junior Skylar Dise (Annville, Pa.).
Lebanon Valley put one more goal in the back of the cage in the fourth quarter. Junior Sorrell Long (Doylestown, Pa.) scored in the 53
rd minute, making it a 4-1 final.
Sophomore Kayleigh Kmet (Hainesport, N.J.) was credited with the win in goal for the Dutchmen, making two saves in 55:31 of game action. Junior
Brynn Rifino (Dover, Del./Smyrna) converted 10 saves for the Falcons in 56:56. First-year
Kendall Heiney (Slatington, Pa./Northern Lehigh) made one save in relief of Rifino in the final 3:04.
Lebanon Valley had an 18-3 advantage in shots and had 15 penalty corners to Cedar Crest's four.
Cedar Crest (1-3 overall) will remain on the road for a non-league game at Delaware Valley University on Saturday, September 17 at noon. Lebanon Valley (3-3 overall) will remain at home for a non-conference tilt with York College (Pa.) on Saturday at 1:00 p.m.
