ASTON, Pa. – The Cedar Crest College volleyball team lost a 3-2 non-conference contest to Stockton University on Friday night at the Mirenda Center on the opening day of the Knights Invitational hosted by Neumann University.
Stockton pulled out the win behind scores of 25-12, 21-25, 25-10, 24-26, and 15-8. First-year Kate Louer (Clifton, N.J.) posted a match-high 18 kills to lead the Ospreys, who improved to 5-2 on the season.
The Falcons were led by 10 kills and three blocks from first-year
Ellise Everett (Orlando, Fla./Lake Nona ). Junior
Ava Grapsy (Macungie, Pa./Allentown Central Catholic) added a double-double of a match-high 33 assists to go along with 11 digs. Sophomore
Akashia Johnson (Baltimore, Md./Baltimore Polytechnic Institute ) contributed five total blocks on the night (two solo, three assisted) and junior
Rebekka Sanchez-Castro (Columbia, Md./Atholton) registered a match-high 20 digs. Sophomore
Alexis Cummins (Stafford, Va./Colonial Forge) chipped in eight kills and 10 digs.
The Falcons earned 50 points, 37 kills, 33 assists, and 51 digs.
Cedar Crest (1-3 overall) will resume play at the Knights Invitational against the host Neumann University on Saturday, September 17 at 10:00 a.m., followed by a match against Ursinus College at 2:00 p.m.
