OWINGS MILLS, Md. – The Cedar Crest College field hockey team suffered a 4-0 loss to Stevenson University in a non-conference contest on Monday afternoon.
The Mustangs scored one goal per quarter and outshot the Falcons during the contest, 19-2.
Stevenson's first marker came just 2:37 into the game on a gal by sophomore Haley Palmer (Owings Mills, Md.) and assisted by junior Veronica Maring (Taneytown, Md.).
The home squad added to the lead in the 21
st minute when Maring found the back of the net to give the Mustangs a 2-0 advantage.
Stevenson wasted little time getting on the scoreboard in the second half as Rylee Leakway put a shot past Cedar Crest junior goalkeeper
Brynn Rifino (Dover, Del./Smyrna) just 47 seconds in to give the Mustangs a 3-0 margin. Sophomore Nicole Ziegler (West Deptford, N.J.) was credited with the assist on the goal.
Junior Macy Kosanovich (Wilmington, Del.) netted the final goal of the contest with 7:34 remaining in regulation to make it a 4-0 final.
Senior Jamie Fritz (Germantown, Md.) picked up the win in the cage for the Mustangs. Rifino made 11 saves in the loss for the Falcons.
Cedar Crest (0-2 overall) will return home for a non-conference tilt against Eastern Mennonite University on Sunday, September 11 at 11:00 a.m. Stevenson (2-1 overall) will stay at home to host McDaniel College on Wednesday, September 7 at 5:00 p.m.
