ALLENTOWN, Pa. – The Cedar Crest College basketball team dropped a 67-49 decision to Clarks Summit University on Thursday night in Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) action at Lees Gymnasium.
Graduate student Elizabeth Singleton (Schenectady, N.Y.) finished the night with a team-high 16 points points and went 7-for-8 from the line while sophomore Serene Calderon (Corfu, N.Y.) netted 15 points and added 10 rebounds, one assist, and four steals. Junior Mia McCormick (Philadelphia, Pa.) tallied 15 points, two boards, one assist and one steal while first-year Ashlyn Messinger (Fredricksburg, Pa.) closed the Lady Defenders' players in double figures with 13 points to go along with five rebounds, four assists, and three steals.

Ashley Wilson (Norwalk, Conn./Norwalk) recorded a double-double with 24 points and 10 rebounds, both team-highs. First-year
Jordan McGhee (Copperas Cove, Texas/Copperas Cove) chipped in 10 points, five rebounds, and two assists.
The Falcons limited Clarks Summit to 1-for-15 shooting from the floor in the opening 10 minutes and started the contest with an 8-0 run, capped off by a layup by McGhee. Clarks Summit got on the board with a free throw by Messinger to make the score 8-1 but a quick 5-0 spurt send the lead to double digits after a triple from Wilson to push the margin to 12, 13-1. The Lady Defenders rallied to net the last six points of the frame as Cedar Crest held a 13-7 lead after one quarter.
CSU used an 11-5 run over the first 7:36 of the second stanza to pull even with the Falcons, 18-18. The Lady Defenders built as large as a five-point advantage after a personal 5-0 run by Messinger, but first-year
Bella Bozen (Lockport, Ill./Lockport Township) put one through the bottom of the net to make the score 25-22 in favor of Clarks Summit heading into the half.
The Lady Defenders outscored the Falcons 22-8 in the third quarter, sparked by a 13-2 run, finished off by a triple by McCormick to push the score to 38-24 with 7:12 left. The deficit ballooned to as many as 19 (47-28) as the quarter ended with a 47-30 score.
Clarks Summit pushed the margin to as many as 24 in the final frame (67-43) after a layup by Singleton with 2:33 remaining in regulation. The Falcons rallied for six straight points to end the game in the 67-49 final.
Cedar Crest (1-10 overall, 1-8 CSAC) hits the road for two straight games, beginning at Wilson College on Saturday, January 28 at 1:00 p.m. Clarks Summit (9-7 overall, 7-3 CSAC) starts a three-game homestand on Saturday against the University of Valley Forge, starting at 1:00 p.m.
