Soccer Blanks NDMU in Conference Road Match, 2-0

BALTIMORE, Md. – The Cedar Crest College soccer team blanked Notre Dame of Maryland University in a 2-0 final in a United East Conference-Skye Division contest on Wednesday afternoon at Alumnae Field.

The Falcons got a goal in each half to send themselves to victory.

Junior Abril Riley (Levittown, Pa./Harry S. Truman) found the back of the net for the second consecutive match after she deposited a shot high and to the right in the 15th minute to put Cedar Crest ahead, 1-0. The assist on the marker was credited to senior Olivia Kelly (Medford, N.J./Shawnee).

The Falcons added an insurance tally in the 72nd minute when junior Grace Nieman (Mount Airy, Md./South Carroll) registered her first career goal, which was placed high and to the left to make the score 2-0, the eventual final.

Cedar Crest held a 7-5 advantage in shots and had four corner kicks to the Gators' three.

Sophomore goalkeeper Bella Bozen (Lockport, Ill./Lockport Township) secured the win for the Falcons, making three saves to record her sixth shutout of the season. First-year Leah Hasberry (San Antonio, Texas) made two saves for NDMU in the loss.

Cedar Crest (3-3-6 overall, 3-0-4 United East Conference-Skye Division) returns home for a matchup with Clarks Summit University on Saturday, October 21 at 3:00 p.m. The contest also marks Homecoming Weekend and Senior Day for the Falcons. Notre Dame of Maryland University (5-7-0 overall, 3-4-0 United East Conference-Skye Division) will travel to Keystone College for its next tilt on Saturday at 5:30 p.m.
