MORRISTOWN, N.J. – The Cedar Crest College volleyball concluded its regular season with a 3-0 sweep of Saint Elizabeth University in a United East Conference-Skye Division match on Tuesday night at Saint Joseph Hall.

Cedar Crest won the match by set scores of 25-18, 25-18, and 25-17.

The Falcons got out to a 7-2 lead in the opening set, highlighted by a 4-0 run, finished off by a service ace by senior Ava Grapsy (Macungie, Pa./Allentown Central Catholic). Cedar Crest stretched its margin to as many as eight following a kill from sophomore Ellise Everett (Orlando, Fla./Lake Nona) to push the score to 22-14. The Eagles scored three straight points to make it 22-17, but the Falcons closed on a 3-1 run to win the first set, 25-18.

Cedar Crest jumped out to another big lead in the second stanza, going up 10-2 after a Saint Elizabeth attack error. The Falcons extended its margin to as many as 11, 18-7, after a kill by senior Ava Grapsy (Macungie, Pa./Allentown Central Catholic). Saint Elizabeth trimmed the lead to six on multiple occasions late in the set, but a kill from junior Alexis Cummins (Stafford, Va./Colonial Forge) gave Cedar Crest the 25-18 second set victory.

The third set was tight as the teams split the opening 26 points of the final frame, 13-13. After a point by the Eagles, the Falcons rattled off a 12-3 run to capture the third set, 25-17 and the match in straight sets.

Everett paced Cedar Crest with nine kills, four blocks, four assists, one service ace, and one dig. Grapsy followed with eight kills, two service aces, 13 assists, and 10 digs. Senior Ziah Melton (Allentown, Pa./William Allen) chipped in six kills and three digs.
