ALLENTOWN, Pa. – The Cedar Crest College field hockey team suffered a 6-0 loss to Albright College in a non-league game on Wednesday night at the FalconPlex.
The Lions scored in each of the first three quarters to secure the win.
Albright netted the opening tally in the first quarter on a marker from junior Chelsea Johnson (Dover, Del.) in the sixth minute, with the assist going to sophomore Keliah Santiago (Lancaster, Pa.) to put the Lions on top 1-0.
The same pairing connected for the second goal in the 20
th minute to make the score 2-0. Johnson capped the hat trick in the 27
th minute when she found the back of the cage off a helper from junior Layma Mejias (Manheim, Pa.) to push the score to 3-0 at the half.
Albright netted three goals in the third quarter on markers from Mejias, Johnson, and senior Morgan Kopcik (Bernville, Pa.) to make it the 6-0 final.
Senior Veronica Heckman (Hamburg, Pa.) secured the win in goal for the Lions, making one save over 45 minutes. First-year
Shelby Heater (Lehighton, Pa./Lehighton Area) was tagged with the loss, recording eight saves.
Cedar Crest (2-9 overall) will hit the road for a non-conference game at Ramapo College on Friday, October 6 at 7:00 p.m. Albright (4-6 overall) starts conference play with its next game at Stevenson University on Saturday, October 7 at noon.
